Car Evading Law Enforcement Crashes into Florida Bar, Claiming Four Deceased and Eleven Hurt

An speeding car while fleeing police slammed into a busy bar in the early hours on the weekend, killing 4 people and injuring 11 in a historic neighborhood of Florida, renowned for its nightlife and visitors.

An air surveillance team with the local police department observed the car driving recklessly on a freeway at about just after midnight after authorities said the silver sedan had been observed illegally racing in a different neighborhood, according to a law enforcement announcement.

The state road police caught up with the car and tried to perform a tactic that involves bumping a rear panel of a fleeing car to cause it to lose control, known as a precision immobilization technique, but it was ineffective.

State police officers “ended pursuit” as the vehicle sped toward the vintage Ybor City district near downtown, local police reported. Eventually, the driver failed to maintain control of the car and hit over a dozen people near the bar, officials confirmed.

Authorities identified the alleged driver as 22-year the individual, who was booked on Saturday and is being detained at the local jail.

Court records indicated the suspect has been accused with four charges of vehicular homicide and four counts of aggravated fleeing or eluding with severe harm or fatality. Each are first-degree felonies. No attorney was listed for Sampson.
