Los Angeles Explodes in Jubilation as Los Angeles Dodgers Claim Back-to-Back World Series Victory
The City of Angels witnessed citywide celebrations after the Los Angeles Dodgers won a nail-biting seven-game World Series title. Supporters worldwide joined Angelenos in jubilation, marking the first time in a quarter-century that a team has achieved back-to-back championships.
Celebration Parade Draws Massive Crowds
Local events included a downtown parade on Monday morning, a reserved-seating event at the team's home stadium, and spontaneous parties throughout the city.
Online footage depict countless of Los Angeles residents packing city center avenues, many displaying handmade banners and Dodger flags. The squad was seen traveling proudly on a open-top bus through the crowds, raising the Commissioner’s trophy proudly.
“My focus is already about the third time we’re going to do this,” the star player remarked through an interpreter.
The parade route concluded at Dodger Stadium, where the team walked out to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” with DJ Mustard providing music and the artist driving a Pacific blue vintage Cadillac around the field.
Early Celebrations and Athlete Responses
Celebrations began prior to the procession, with supporters setting off flares in the roads of Downtown Los Angeles on Sunday night.
The World Series MVP, named the World Series’ Most Valuable Player, commented directly about the win.
“We refuse to lose,” he stated. “I adore this team. This city means everything to me.”
Mixed Reactions and City Unity
However, Mark Walter was met with a less warm reception at the rally. Video footage from the event appear to show him taking the stage to a mix of cheers and jeers, with jeers interrupting his speech.
The championship acted as a positive moment in what has been a trying year for the city. An estimated 225,000 people attended to the Dodgers’ victory parade last year, and according to Dodgers player Freddie Freeman, fans this year demonstrated as much if not more support.
“I feel like it’s almost double from last year,” he said. “The supporters are incredible. It’s so awesome to be a part of this.”
