Mohamed Salah Offers Regret to Squad, Discloses Curtis Jones
Curtis Jones has shared that Mohamed Salah apologised to the entire Liverpool squad after the uproar from his public comments.
What Happened
The striker was dropped from a key Champions League match following criticising the club and claiming his connection to the head coach had deteriorated.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, I'm sorry.’”
The manager has refused to disclose on whether he received a personal apology from the veteran striker.
Looking Ahead
Jones insisted that the team's response stayed normal. “He was the exact same Mo, he had a big smile on his face and we all treated him normally,” the midfielder explained.
Jones also suggested that a teammate fighting for a place is preferable. “It's clear there are certain ways you can go about things,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just not start, then I think that’s concerning.”
Positive Results
The team's performance have stayed unbeaten in the matches since the situation. Jones believes the forward's comments were not intended to harm the team.
“When there’s been any sort of anger, the source has been from a desire to win,” he finished. “We’re past that now and we’re gelling well as a team, getting results and securing victories.”
