The President Calls Families of Shot National Guard Soldiers to the White House

President Donald Trump announced on the weekend that he has invited the loved ones of a Guard member killed last week to visit the presidential home.

He noted that he conversed with her parents and they were “heartbroken”.

Background on the Heartbreaking Incident

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a violent incident on last Wednesday in DC.

Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in critical condition.

Vigils across the state have taken place in their honor.

Presidential Invitation

The president stated he’s proposed a White House visit for the families of both individuals of the West Virginia Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” the president informed the press. “And likewise with him, no matter the outcome.”

Public Support

Mourners came together over the weekend at Webster County high school in the state to remember Sarah.

Both they had been working with the military unit as part of Trump’s government program to support policing efforts in DC.

Remembering Beckstrom

“Sarah was the kind of student that teachers wished for. She carried herself with quiet strength, a bright grin and a upbeat demeanor that lifted those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s former high school, told the media. “She was sweet, caring and always eager to assist people.”

Funeral arrangements for Sarah are in the process of planning.

Judicial Measures and Government Revisions

Authorities have indicted a 29-year-old Afghan national with a charge of first-degree murder and two counts of violent assault while armed.

The event caused the Trump administration to halt refugee claims and temporarily stop granting entry permits to owners of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of the Airman

Andrew Wolfe, a resident of the city, started his military career in February 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, as reported by the AP.

He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia governor Morrisey stated on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

The state’s top lawyer the attorney general told Fox News Sunday that she aimed to visit Wolfe’s family.

Impact of Sarah Beckstrom

Sarah, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County High in June 2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a military police officer with excellence, according to the state guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had courage,” the governor told the crowd at the memorial. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
